GET TO KNOW ALISON

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
Petaluma, California

FAVORITE RIDE?

I love visiting San Luis Obispo, home of Lezyne, and doing a great gravel loop into the Los Padres National Forest and finishes at the Pozo Saloon. Tater tots and country music? Yes, please.

GOALS FOR THE YEAR?
I am looking forward to exploring the world by bike and spending time investing in our community. I will be attending so many road and gravel events throughout the year as well as planning some big adventures on two wheels. I am excited to keep working with partners like Lezyne that really believe in making our sport better for all.

BIGGEST RISK YOU'VE TAKEN ON THE BIKE?
I try not to take risks when on my bike—safety first! I have spent most of my career attempting to avoid risk, but I think the biggest risk I have taken is making the leap to become a professional cyclist. It is risky to show up to races and challenge yourself, but I know that if I didn't show up and keep trying, I would regret not taking the chance in the first place.

FAVORITE LEZYNE PRODUCT?
I can't go anywhere without my Mega XL GPS. Literally. I would get lost.

ALISON'S BIO

Growing up on a cattle ranch in California, Alison found a new steed, the bike, after playing NCAA tennis and becoming a published scientist. She raced as a professional cyclist all over the world, podiuming at the World Championships in the Team Time Trial, representing the USA National Team, and winning a number of races around the globe. Life then took an unexpected turn and Alison suffered a severe traumatic brain injury resulting from a bike racing crash. She didn’t know it then, but the life changing event, pointed her towards longer more solo race efforts in gravel. Alison now races for Specialized Bicycles and is supported by a number of partners who have been with her throughout her career. She won her first gravel race at DK200 (now UnBound), setting the course record which still stands, and continued to become 3x Gravel Worlds Champion.

Alison serves on the Board of Directors of USA Cycling and spends her time traveling all over the world enjoying life, riding bikes and inspiring others to join the sport of cycling. She maintains a career as a communications professional, specializing in biotechnology and the endurance sports industry. She exudes the power of the bike and how it an be amplified through continuing education and community impact. She also views the bike as a pivotal vehicle to foster new ideas and bolster confidence.
